Write anywhere. No browser required.

The full Markdown Editor — tabs, outline, find & replace, table editor, focus mode — as a native Windows app. Files open and save directly to your filesystem with a real Save dialog.

First run note: this build isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen will show a blue warning on first install. That's normal for unsigned apps — click More info → Run anyway to continue. It doesn't mean the app is unsafe.

One editor, everywhere you write

Native, not a wrapped tab

Built with Tauri, so it starts fast, stays lightweight (~15 MB installed), and feels like a real Windows app — not a browser tab pretending to be one.

Real file access

Open and save Markdown files directly to your filesystem with a native Save dialog — no downloads folder shuffle, no browser sandbox.

Everything you already use

Tabs, outline view, find & replace, the visual table editor, and focus mode — the same editing experience as the web app, now on your desktop.

Prefer to work in your browser? Use the free web version at editor.righthandai.io — no install needed.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is this really free?

Yes. The RightHand AI Markdown Editor — both the web app and the Windows Desktop Edition — is free to download and use, no trial period and no credit card required.

Why does Windows show a warning when I install it?

The Desktop Edition isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen shows a blue "unrecognized app" warning on first install. This is normal for unsigned apps — click More info, then Run anyway to continue. It doesn't mean the app is unsafe.

Will there be a Mac or Linux version?

Not yet. Today the Desktop Edition is Windows-only. If you're on macOS or Linux, the free web app at editor.righthandai.io works in any browser.

What's the catch?

No catch. It's free to use for as long as you want — no trial window, no feature paywall, no credit card ever required.

Does the editor send my files anywhere?

No. The RightHand AI Markdown Editor doesn't transmit your file contents anywhere — everything stays local to your browser or device.
